Funny, but I think Funagon probably has it right!
There are lots of VW camp-outs and (all) VW events practically all over the whole contry. LiMBO, Full Moon bus Club, WetWesties, etc. You can probably find a Bus/Vanagon event near you.
I'll be going to West River Westies in Vermont again in 2011. Smooth dirt road in, will give us 2WD's a little off the pavement without causing Syncro envy/anguish. Come-on down...er.... or up....or East.

There already is a whole forum devoted to it.

Perhaps it could be set up in the Community Heading.
I think Syncro Special Gatherings are very important to owning a Syncro. I also think it is very nice of them to invite us 2WDers. There are lots and lots and lots of Vanagon events throughout North America with a few being held in Canada. They should all be included in a CALENDAR OF EVENTS.

I put one The Blog; click here. Any events that are missing, let me know the details and I'll add 'em. May not be the best permanent solution, but for now it works... until/unless someone comes up with something better. _________________ ~Kamz

look at the Community at the top. Calendar could be easily added there. _________________ '09 2.5L Jetta 5 cylinder, 5 spd, super turbo, see thread in H2O Cooled Jetta, etc...

Lets leave the nature of the event up to the people that present it.
I have missed only one, will be there for sure. |

This sounds great, I have been looking for a place to try out my Vanagon. I have some extra time, need help with setting up? I have the month of April off.
Was going to spend time traveling around! I recently got my van from my Dad, I had some work done, but I'm looking for a better Mechanic. It has 92,000 miles and looks wonderful, it's been in the garage for years driven on Sunday shopping. Know it needs beefy stuff to make it last. So I want to look at everyones "Rigs" to see what will work best.
Are dog's welcome at the event?

It's up there under Community then SHOWS.. like events they have dates and descriptions (ie location, costs, what to wear etc).
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/shows/ Though it could be presented in a better format a block calendar can't hold all of the concurring VW events on some select days.
infact here's SDM's listing (Link isn't quite right).
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/shows/index.php#7874
you might call it an "event" but it's all just semantics
the VW Shows/events forum is for THIS THREAD and the others of Syncro De Mayo nature. to plan, get excited about and argue the virtues..
but the vanagon forum members really don't stray too far from these confines..
I'll make an unpopular statement here and say.
maybe these burningvan, Santa cruze, PNW group & SDM yay or nay threads should be flagged to be moved, where event & show discussuions belong.
I promote Westies @ Watkins Glen annual VW camping event. I don't post it all up in here, they belong over in the events & shows forum. though I do tack links in my Sig line below.. that I believe is allowed.
/soapbox
sorry.. I've really grown tired of the SDM Yay and Nay since I'm too far away to attend for many years still _________________

Will there be a major SyncroSwim? Just looked at some videos including crossing a deep river with quite a current. If I had $$$$ I'd be getting a Syncro and taking a heep of lessons and heading West _________________ '09 2.5L Jetta 5 cylinder, 5 spd, super turbo, see thread in H2O Cooled Jetta, etc...

Thanks, I love reading all the posts. Bailey has been loving the vanagon and all my attention. I hate taking him in my BMW to the beach, this works out better.
I look forward to camping in April, I need a month off. No work, phone, computer, and no meetings. |
