My mom says a Baja as a daily drive wouldn't be a good idea because people will mess with the engine. Has anyone ever had there engine messed with, vandalized or anything? Or ever heard of it?

That's what I'm trying to say! But she's the manager of our local Wal-Mart so she says she has experience with people messing stuff up just to mess stuff up. I say it's different so If I get enough posts saying it'll be fine she'll have one less excuse to buy me a bug.

I put a locking gas cap on my rail and pull the steering wheel if it's going to set anywhere unattended very long. I chain it to something large if it's outside over night.
I recently caught a guy in my backyard at 3:00 AM looking at it with a flashlight. Since I often work out of town, he might of thought I was gone. I beat his ass then called the police.
The police took him to the hospital first and the turned him over to his parole officer. (Burglar on Parole go figure) No charges on me for defending my castle Very Happy

I've installed another set of sensor lights out back, and am installing a few new boards in my fence. I'm sure word of the event has made it's way around town, I shouldn't have too much trouble for awhile, I hope.

I'm 16 too. Thats the main reason my parents let me get the bug. Really cheap to be registered and insured on. And I also bought it with my own money haha. She'll have to cave eventually...with a full cage and everything its safer than some cars out there today

ok then Mom is old and wise,,,,

if you get this Baja, it will be broke down 80% of the time, she knows you'll be hitting on her to use her car , and hitting for cash for parts, leave grease all over her carpet, a mess in the drive way every day ....

she would be money ahead to just buy you a honda...

yes vandals only target VW baja's, if there in a wal mart parking lot ..parked way out where the camera's don't see.

I'm getting a normal beetle then converting.

I have another car I can drive whenever it's out of commission, it's not a problem.
