I recently stumbled on this gem, and it is for sale to me, but i need to know what would a safe price for this would be.

the info is as follows.
no engine
bus trans with redux boxes
glass in the windshield is broken out.
its in pretty rough, but pretty much all there.

i know these are pretty rare, and its a split window also.
no idea the year.

so if someone could give me what a good price to pay would be, that would be awesome.
roughness scale, she'd be about a 3or4 out of 10.
10 being the best of course.

heres some pics

any help appreciated...

My first guess would be under $500 US.

Kudos for using the word "an" and not just "a" in your thread header.
Oh the simple joys of correct wording.

Anyway, my first question would be : did you look underneath it? Frame rails, cross-members, etc.... This is how I value buses that look krusty from the outside. The underside can determine what it's worth, at least for me.

If it's rusty underneath, I'd say "crusher" price : no more than $300.
If it's somewhat solid, I'd say $300 to $750.

Your in the U.P.? My guess, being from WI, is that it's rusty under there.

Good luck, and keep us posted. Oh yeah, Go Packers!

No it was correct, he was giving you kudos for using correct grammar in the title of the thread.
It's like when people place an add to sell something. Ad+d equals addition and not a classified "ad". Very Happy Very Happy

I agree that is a '62 ...

Fried eggs (late '61 and above)
Padded visors (if original, 62 and above, but I don't know if they were an option on trucks, my '63 double cab has the flat 'cardboard' ones)
Ice pick handles ('63 and below)
Outtie engine vents (?63 and below)
No lip on the rear wheel well (added in '63?)
and if I'm on wrong on any of this, just school me ...

It'd be cool if you could get it back on the road ... Kombisutra rolls busses in that shape for the Shasta Snow Trip!

No sarcasm at all, I was impressed with your word usage. Most folks don't give a sh%t.

I haven't even thought about Super Bowl tickets, too pricey for me. My buddy from Green Bay has standing room only tix, but they are not for sale as he is going. He's been to 15 road games, and countless home games.

Definitely take some time and crawl around under it. Also look under the bed gates, front doors, the treasure chest area, front floors.....A good general rule - look over everything you can. This way, you know what is what when it comes to making an offer. Then when the person says "$2000", you can say "well this and this is rusty, etc..."

Also, bring cash. Cash talks, B.S. walks.

well the guy already has a price, and its inbetween 5 and 7 hundred bucks, but once i check it out tmrw, i'll determine whether its worth it or not.

i have a fresh built 1600 sitting in my basement waiting for a home...

you can buy patch panels for these, correct?

...and are these getting a little rare now? thats what ive been hearing...

Yes gerson is making just about any patch panel you need. Might not be the cheapest stuff but its good quality. And single cabs aren't all that rare it just depends on the location. Here in Mn yes they are pretty rare

Gerson funky green panels are the only way to go for metal... and you can get EVERYTHING! best quality, hands down... Click the link below the banner ad at the top of every page that says "see all banner ads" and you should find the site link, or just do a search on here.

I am sure others will chime in with the funky greens!

Also, around here, you could say that single cabs are rare... I am 30, and in my whole life, I only recall seeing 3 or 4... ever... lol. -cars get slaughtered by salt here...

Good luck on your trip to check it out. I hope it is solid enough for you to build, and give that 1600 a sweet home! or, you can find someone willing to take it on... Would be great to see another one saved!

Cheers!

I love Ruby Red singles...if the chassis isn't toast, get it and fix it! Hell, do it anyway - it will just take you longer.

check the windshield bottoms, without glass and years of snow they could be rotted out, same for the roof rails. it's nasty looking all over. The best part I see is dual treasure chests. if you like it and the price is low enough buy it.

Go for it!! You can not go too wrong at that price. Mine was very bad when I got it and slowly I pieced it back together, and I love driving it. They really are a good truck. Unless it has a broken back from rust it can be fixed.Just be patient, don't be overwhelmed. I got mine for $92 at the crusher and by scrounging parts got it reliable and running for less than 1K. It is not restored by any means but everything works. Your experience will be unique to your budget and skills of course. You got gates with it even..that is nice.
