Hey fellow Newts,
Have a super good trip. I am truly going to miss this event. Be safe and know how to exit your bus at all times, even if it is on its side or upside down in 3' of water. After our little spill on castle lake road, I found out I had sprained my neck pretty bad. It took a few grand out of pocket and a couple months of rehab to fix it, but no medication all natural. I am almost healed, just can't drive the bus hardcore yet.
Later on super badass bus people.
Aaron

Nate is screwed. Needs an engine. Rod thrown.

I've got a decent engine that he could use, but it's in a bus. This one is 12V, so we'll need to do a little bell housing grinding...

Just thinking out loud here...

What resources do we have here in town? Anyone got an engine?

Alright,
Nate's good. He's here in Santa Cruz. He wants to buy a long block. I will call Dean in the am and see if he has one ready to roll. That could take some time. There's dude in Fremont that builds engines and has one ready to go.

So tomorrow we'll make a few calls, I'll hook up the tow rig to the Surf City truck and get that shit over to my house.

40 Horse Nate could turn into 150 Horse Nate if I throw my spare 2180 in that shit. Yeah. Twisted Evil

Kool, I did a cl check as well. I've got a 10:00 in the moaning but it shouldn't take that long. I can help when the sun is out. I'm not worth a shit when the sun goes down. I'm solar powered, failing eyesight and me parts dont work.

Nice one, Clara! I welded my clutch tube back to the torsion housing today too. Not an easy spot to weld.

Massive stuff done today around Surf City.

Center pin.
All new tie rod ends.
Install engine.
Check tranny fluid.
Install offroad lights.
Mostly ready, need to pack and give this sucker a quick tune up and we're off.

Soooo,

There's an engine in Beauty that's available for Nate... and Woodland is sort of on the way to Shasta from Santa Cruz. Has anyone flat-towed a bus with a bus that far? My shit's got the HP and the tow rig, but it seems a little sketchy. Hell, it's sketchy towing a bus with my Cummins.

Again thinking out loud.

Shit, shit, shit! Should've thought of that. That'd be quick too.

Install engine in Nate's rig. He drives to Woodland and installs the Beauty engine. We load your engine into my bus in Shasta and bring it back.

Dang. I'll offer it up in the am.

Got my exhaust all welded up and finally mounted the chained tires. Miles of clearance. Took a spin through the vineyard and chased down the rogue pack of chickens. I roosted the Rooster.

Never did get the replacement System 1 Filter. I was hoping to relocate the flange when I installed the new filter. So the HP1 will have to do and it hangs pretty low. I know it's going to be my Achilles Heel.

Installed some new D-rings to lash down the floor jack and threw the rubber cargo mat back in. Put a heavy dose of Armour-all on the tires hoping it will help as a non-stick treatment. Topped off gas and plan to head out sometime around 9:30a from Sac.

Now all I to do is pack and wait for Jason.
I'll be monitoring Channel 2 and give a hail once in while to see if "anyone gots their ears on"

I'll probably be up all night thinking of things I forgot.
Hope Adam is having safe travels.
