I love all the threads of the prototype VW's, VW30, VW38 and barndoors but it got me thinking... I don't recall seeing any photos of early Baywindow prototypes?
If you have any odd ball prototype VW Bay window shots post them up!
The way I see it the split bus was just a prototype until VW made it perfect in 1968 |

Some prototypes I found in the gallery.
EDIT: FOUND IT!!! 1967!!
1978 Westaflia SYNCRO!!! Imagine if they mass produced this?
Side loader. This would of been cool:
The Electric Bus prototype. 1972?
Come to think of it... I don't think I've ever seen the bay window prototype _________________ '73 Transporter 1.7L Dual Carb

That looks scary like the scene in the film Jacob's Ladder when the car drives by with all those faces in it. _________________ "I spud therefore I yam." |

That 1967 Kombi prototype should have painted hubcaps but their chrome:
Sweet ride though. That syncro Westy would have been cool as well. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

Yes that 67 is a early production for the 68 year but not really a prototype as they would have been a few years earlier..... lets keep this thread going. Any others?!? |

What's the M-code for that extended bumper/spare tire mount? I've only seen one other than this one. Odd looking _________________

It's a European only thing. I believe it's a Westfalia accessory. _________________ '73 Transporter 1.7L Dual Carb

I used to have a club newsletter with a photo of the engine bay in the electric prototype. It was destroyed with most of my '80s vw mags when I foolishly kept them in my broken bay. Water damage
I also lost the newsletter with the fwd morris prototype built from kdf / kubel etc. parts. Swastickas everywhere. Kind of amused me to see on a british car. _________________ Vehicle: 1975 Special order delivery walkthrough panel based pop-top camper (LCA / Sunliner).
