I think you will get a 50/50 response. You have Verizon, how the coverage in your area. Now ask someone how the AT&T coverage is, in your area.

That's a more realistic comparsion.

I have only had an iphone, so I can't compare. But in my particular instance, I can count the dropped calls on 1 hand and I have had my phone almost 2 years.

As far as coverage, locally, fine. The only time travelling I have ever not had coverage is when passing through a National forest of some sort where there are no cell towers.

nimbus, I think you may be right. I talked to a couple more owners and each has no problems with either one. I guess I'm going to go to the Verizon store in late Feb and do some more research and see what I come up with. And it probably wouldn't hurt to actually fiddle with each one in person.

I appreciate all the input. I guess I'm looking ahead because I don't want to end up with another BB Storm type phone....

That's easy Android and the iPhone are better than a Storm so you are good no matter which way you go. Win-Win Laughing

I love everybody's obsession with the iPhone dropping calls. Yeah, I've dropped calls before but it wasn't due to iPhone not having service. Dropping calls is a two way road. If THE OTHER PERSON has a crappy phone and bad service gee-whiz it's going to drop it. Rolling Eyes

And Verizon dusted off and propped up the "Can you hear me now?" guy Brick wall

While I'm an iPhone AT&T customer who loves the iPhone and has two in the family, a 3g and a 4. I'd suggest you wait until the iPhone has been on the Verizon Network for a few months and cull the feedback from the early trail blazers. I also have heard the iPhone 5g rumors and as such you might as well just wait and see what the next few months bring your way.

My only criticism of the iPhone is when being used as a phone while driving it can be cumbersome, even using it legally with a blue tooth. Most "real" cell phones with buttons have quick dial features where you press and hold a given number button and it quick dials your number. The iPhone has no such feature so while you are hurtling down the highway you need to....
push the home button,
slide to unlock,
then push the phone button,
then touch the recent or contacts or keypad button and
then scroll and find who you want to call, if it is a contact
you need to bring up the contact and
then again touch the number to dial or dial the number outright on the keyboard.

Very time consuming and extremely unsafe (if you assume for a minute that phone use and driving can be safe at all).

Shop wisely, you're stuck for two years with your choice.

BTW I live in a populous neighborhood of NJ where Verizon's question is answered with a resounding NO!! I CANNOT HEAR YOU!!!

Dave

I bought an iPhone after having a Motorla Q for a couple years....big mistake..

While I love the apps on the iPhone, its too hard too use, especially the touch screen, I have 'fat fingers' and its really tough to type anything....

I am going back to a phone with a keyboard......fuck Apple....

A friend of mine recently upgraded to an i-phone and she's come close to throwing it against the wall a lot. Mainly due to the touch screen. I think she's finally gotten used to it, but it is rather humorous to watch. I tried to use hers and see how it was and it annoyed me, I couldn't really
"feel" the keys compared to my Razzel from Verizon, which I can use both hands to txt, opposed to finger-poke. But since I don't surf, watch TV or anything else on my phone, i'll prob. stick with it for a while. Most everyone in the office had to have an i-phone, but i don't get the fascination to sit around and talk about what new app. you have to get.

I started off with the first Droid HTC phone and it was pretty slow. Now I have the Droid X and I love the phone, the apps, and the speed. My wife is up for an upgrade and is wanting to get the I-Phone so we can compare.

OR.... push the Home Button, slide to unlock and hold the Home button for a few seconds until the Voice Control screen comes up and say (For example) "call Bob's cell" and it'll call Bob! Same thing with music. Press the home button until the Voice Control screen comes up and say (For another example) "play all Beatles". Then it'll switch over to iPod mode and play all your Beatle songs....

You will find that to be a very common saying. Motorola did it right with the X and HTC with the Evo.

Get the Dolphin HD browser for it as well, wayyy better than the standard one that comes with the X.
