Here is my newly converted Syncro. Used to be 2WD automatic. How many converted ones are there on the Samba or in general?
P.S. Love my new ride

Yes I did. It takes a long time. I did it during my 2 week Christmas break. |

A lot of work, but still less than if you converted a syncro tin top to a full westy wouldn't you say ?

Thanks Eric
Yes I would always do it this way but other people disagree. To each it's own
I like it to be all original inside. |

I would have left the 2wd fuel filler intact for a aux tank set up. |

I see your point but I wanted it to be an original syncro look. It's getting a paint job later |

Nice work! An auto to a Syncro is a bit more complicated than a manual; many kudos for that
I like the colour, too.

Well nice!
I suggest we start a San Francisco Bay area Automatic Westfalias converted to Syncro Club.
SFBAWCTSC. Kinda arkward. Fairly small club.
Converted mine back in 2006, still going strong with trips to Utah, Arizona and Cabo San Lucas and a bunch of SdM's, and Death Valley trips.
However mine looks like shit, gonna have to paint it to keep up with the Greywe's
Cheers, Paul. |

Like the club idea
Mine looked bad from the back too.(white rear door) Then there was a customer with an 88 dove blue work van that bought a waterpump and I said " Hey, wanna trade your rear door for a waterpump? Now he has a silver one and I have a nice matching rear door |

Nice work Marco. Looks good with the accessories from the carat. You also need to replace the 2.0 on that 914 with 3.3

I'd love to join that club soon.
Sweet job Marco. Is that your 2WD auto with the EJ22 that you converted to syncro? How does the engine do now with all the syncro stuff in the van? _________________ 1991 Westy auto w/ Peloquin TBD

Hey Enrique
This is not my old 90 with the 2.2. This is a new one. It has a 2.1 in it (for now) Nice running water boxer. Feels pretty good (for a 2.1) |

He already has. He was giving rides at Van-O-Rama.
Good job Marco. Same goes for fatboypaul. Mark Drillock did his early Westy many eons ago. But then it wasn't an auto and Oceanside is too far from San Francisco. He'll have to start his own club. His house does already look like there's a whole Vanagon club visiting there. All his.
