I seem to remember another thread a while back about a 2wd to Syncro conversion with lots of pics, but I can't find it anymore. I've been scheming for some time about cobbling together a Bluestar Syncro with the help of a donor vehicle and a few of my precious weekends.

I did a 2wd automatic passenger van to syncro conversion a couple of years ago with a subaru 2.5.

Here are some conversion pics:

When I made my "Bluestar syncro" I started with a metallic blue Caravelle syncro and added all the Bluestar bits and pieces. I would imagine that to be a bit easier than doing a syncro conversion on a 2wd Bluestar. And by the way, as far as I know VW never made a Bluestar syncro, so what such a conversion will do to the value of an original Bluestar is not easy to predict.

Here are a couple pics of a syncro gas tank. It is form fitted and made of some type plastic. It has 18.3 gallon capacity.

Over here, 2wd passenger vans aren't worth much, even if they come with all the Bluestar bits, so the value can only go up.

Interesting... Over here the syncros are plentiful, and can be had relatively cheap. in fact I believe Norway, along with Finland was some of the biggest markets for the syncro back then. Westfalia syncros are expensive even here, but not in the price range I see some are advertised for over there.

I really enjoy the versatility of the Bluestar interior, the full width bed, and spacious seating, compared to a full westy. When camping i do all the cooking outside so I dont miss the indoor kitchen. My dream vehicle woud be a Bluestar syncro with poptop, but for now I have to settle with one Syncro tintop, and one 2wd poptop... Both with Multivan interiors.
