This may or may not have already been done, but I was mulling an idea around in my head for awhile.

I want to put on the gtv side scoops, but then have the air conduit lead straight to dual carbs, to create an air ram intake. I realize I would have to rig up an air filter.

Anybody ever done this? Would it be worth all of the trouble?

The trouble with that is, in order for you to force enough air into the carbs, feeding them more than they actually need (positive pressure) you will need to be travelling in excess of 100mph. Figure each barrel of your motor needs 150cfm at 4000 rpm Thats a box of air 600 feet high, 600 feet wide, 600 feet long, now figure out how fast you must be travelling to get amount of air through the scoops. now you must travel faster than that to build up positive pressure.

While I'm not saying don't do it, don't count on it as a performance enhancement. They will let your engine breathe better, any more air you can get into the engine bay is a good thing. And they look kinda cool.

Thanks for the info, exactly what I was looking for. I think that if they aren't gonna provide enough extra pressure, I will just pipe the into the engine compartment, and not have to build a complex air filter system.

Thanks again.

Yep, definitely worth while especially if you have a performance motor with dual carbs that will be stealing air from the cooling fan. My next street/race car will have NACA ducts in the rear windows plumbed into the engine compartment for just that reason. Those C/F scoops are pretty nice.....

The original EMPI scoops came with seperate pipes that channel the air to the engine compartment.
