all time favorite. what's the story with that engine...audi 5cyl...v8? I remember reading something about how the guy had to rebuild his tranny every time he took the rig out for a spin.

awesome syncro and video Eric

Don't know for sure what he's got for suspension but combine Seth's front suspension with my Bilstein 9100 rear suspension and we might have a winning combo Smile

that van belongs to the bernd jaeger, the same guy that built the black one with the orange cage for TV. it first had a 1.8t, but apparently he wasn't happy with the power so he upgraded it to a vr6 i think (don't quote me on that). There's more videos on youtube. I don't know about his suspension and wheels.

Looks like it is a R36 motor(3.6L V6).

The hill climb at the beginning definately looks like the front tires are pulling hard so it must be AWD?

I also thought it was 2WD based on watching the tires carefully and seeing only rears spinning on dirt. But later there's a brief moment where you can see sunlight through the chassis and see the front left driveshaft clearly. Of course he may run it in 2WD under certain race conditions....

In the first video, he's running a 1.8T motor and fairly stock suspension but with big body mods to squeeze 235/85/16s in.

In the other vids, he's changed the spec a lot!

It's running an R32 motor, de-tuned to help the gearbox cope!

The gearbox is a standard Syncro set of 6.17's which he rebuilds almost every round and doesn't use G gear!

The whole drivertain has been lowered in the bodyshell to allow more clearance. You can see the box sections added under the normal chassis.

He's almost massively modified the front suspension by making his own top wishbones, adding to the overall length of the standard syncro uprights etc.

The radiator has been removed from the front (where two oil coolers sit) and fitted at the back which the roof scoop feeding air to it.

I have a few more photos Wink

I took these at Syncro25 last year and just managed to sneak a photo when the engine lid was up!
