i have a bus, and one problem that i need to address is:

the rear hatch has a layer of box framework pushed right up against the inside of the skin. most buses get a little water in that area and rust begins to grow. not a lot of rust, but even a little causes a bulge in the skin. i can get a blade in there to scrape away some rust, but i will never be rid of it all. blast media would never get to it, and the frame work would trap media anyway.

so, should i use some oily product to inhibit growth? POR 15 says to etch first, but i dont want to trap acid in the seams below. should i use the old motor oil and parrafin wax combo? grease?
