I have a set of German bumpers that I was considering having rechromed. They needed only a little work and they would be great show quality bumpers after rechroming. I got two different quotes and if I remember right they were both around $550 to $600 per bumper.
I debated for quite a while between buying the WW set or having the German ones done and obviously I chose the WW set.
When having anything rechromed, there’s always the chance that rust will appear in time. That ultimately depending on the quality of work that’s been done. _________________ 1960 Sedan. L349 Jade Green. |

I had my bumpers rechromed at Denver Bumper in Denver, CO. They did an awesome job. They took out every dent an imperfection that was in my original bumpers. They also guaranteed them against ever rusting in the future.....that is something the aftermarket bumpers cannot do.
I like the fact that I still have my OG bumpers on my car. |

I have to get my 2 cents in here.
I run WW bumpers on my car. They get a lot of compliments that's for sure. But I don't think I would buy them again.
I have spots on the towel bars that are rusting for no apparent reason and
the chrome cracked around the bolt holes. I did not over torque them, but they obviously flex pretty easily.
They claim to be triple plated but I seriously wonder about that.
Yes, they are shiny and they fit well and they do look good except the spots where the chrome failed, but I think I should have invested in getting the original bumper straightened.
I have not heard what it cost to chrome og bumpers... but from what I'm hearing it might not last any longer than WW bumpers. I was just disappointed in how long the chrome lasted on mine.
Btw the car was kept outside for the first 4 years as a daily driver then moved into the garage for the last 6. I noticed the rust after it got a spot in the garage. |
Zundapp, great feedback, I wondered how good WW's triple plated bumpers were. I was tempted and still am. I have a complete NOS rear pre 67 bumper in my basement, I covet it and realize it is just too good to put on my own restored '66. Packed in it's original factory wrapper and perfect in every detail down to the blue QC ink stamp.
Looks like I'll part with it soon, I need to fund other projects! I'd be happy to share photos. |

Hey Ken, sorry for the late reply, The pair ran about 1300.00 to complete. A few bucks for sure, but after a deposit on the drop off and the balance when picked up, it didnt seem like that big of a hit on the ol pocket book. I got the front bumper on the other day (looks great) I will get the rear bumper on over the week end. Will post a pic when completed. |

I paid $790 at Denver Bumper in Denver about 3 years ago. Great work. |

Found some time to get the front and rear bumpers put on. I am very pleased with the final results.
