I never had the opportunity to meet Russ in person but I exchanged PM'S with him on occasion. He was always very friendly, helpful and curtious. What I really liked about Russ is he was never rude or condecending to people (that I saw) and he always was helpful to anyone needing it. I've always been amazed how quickly you can form opinions of people simply reading what they write. I quickly realized Russ was a genuinely nice guy. |

I'd like to make a motion to name the Type 3 forum for Wolfe much as the offroad is now named for HBB. The man's contributions were and are enormous and should not be forgotten. _________________ Немає виправдання для війни! Я з Україною.

I regret never having had the opportunity to meet Russ in person. He was a wealth of information, and always brought a smile to my face when he would comment during my build thread, and other threads. A good man, indeed.
Rest in Peace, Russ! You will be missed! _________________ I DID wash my hands....the rest is 'built-in' dirt!

I am proud to have considered Russ my friend and had the pleasure of staying at Marilyn and Russ's place on a couple of occasions. I will miss him very much, both on the internet and at the Invasions.
Even though I had "known" Russ through the vwtype3.org list for a few years, I first met Russ and Marilyn in person when i pulled into their place in Iowa on the way to the first Invasion in Idaho. Russ ended up riding with me all the way to Idaho and back. I never felt more confident in a long drive in Sophy as when I had Russ in the car with me.
Sophy has rear fenders that I got from Russ and one of her carbs is still running around with a "Russ Wolfe Roadside Repair". Seems the electromagnetic shut-off jet quit working on the way back from the first Invasion. Russ pulled the jet out, clipped the electromagnetic shut-off button off (making it a static jet) and off we went. I am sure we would have been on the side of the road a lot longer looking for the problem and then figuring out the solution if Russ had not been there.
Rest in peace my friend. I will miss you.
2008 Invasion....Where's Russ? Oh yeah, that's him on his knees with his head in the engine compartment...
and with his lovely bride...
At the 2010 Invasion.....

Meant to add.....
I got Sophy out of the garage after work today and took her for a nice little drive after work to clear my head and to honor my friend...

Hey guys, I don't get on here much as it has nothing to do with Honda's nor my Jeep.
I'm blown away by how many people my dad touched/reached. I've read most of this thread and the type3.org thread. I want to say thank you for all the support. At this time we're meeting with the funeral home in the morning, and mom was looking at holding the memorial service/viewing on the 26th.
Thanks again,
Mark Wolfe |
