After a hanging with the Bus Guys for a while, I had to scratch the itch to get back into my favorite VW, a Type 3.

Delivered this morning and I spent some time after work cleaning, surveying, and plotting my attack.

Mostly complete, fairly solid, but very cool.

Plans are to get it running, drive it, and replace worn parts as I go. Shouldn't be long before its running but brakes are a challenge considering parts availabilty. Anyone have any wheel cylinders in their way Wink

dude, very nice score. That interior won't take alot to make it good enough for a driver, hell the whole car won't take a lot to get it looking good.

Take that trim off the front. 63 did not come with that. Otherwise, that's a sweet looking car.

On the hood? Which trim is supposed to be there? Does it make any difference that the car is from France? Differences like the reflectors?

Thanks for the heads up

Thanks! I am pretty happy with it.

I just searched the gallery and saw that there isn't supposed to be any trim at all on the hood.

Master Cylinder is toast; frozen. After I sort the brakes, I will work on the engine.

Most of the wheel cylinders can be rebuilt using kits of teh same bore size. Be sure to check out www.the1500club.com to help answer questions that you might have about what the car looked like original.

That is a Frenchie. Notice the "S" trim the rear license plate housing.

This is the French notch that was on the classifieds. I'm jealous, serious. I can't wait to see what you do with it.

Yes, this is the Notch that was in Colorado. Hopefully it will be a driver soon to enjoy a SoCal Spring.

I keep going out to the garage to look at it.

That is a sweet car. Doesn't appear to need much.

Yes, 61-63 cars didn't have any front hood "beak" at all.

At least it's a short one (64-65). If it's clean you can get some decent money out of it.

Wow, that notch is super cool. Is this car the reason you sold your panel?

Nah, I sold that Panel because I had a complete lapse in judgement. I wish I hadn't. I needed space and my backyard was beginning to look like a parking lot.

I was hoping to tap out what few dents are there and then have a professional color sand, buff, and blend if necessary.

I will likely paint the rims and put some new tires on at the very minimum. I'm over having a "show" car but I hope to make it clean and run perfect.

If it ends up looking half as good as that bus, it will still be a nice Notch!

Since this Car is only about 10 miles away from, I will gladly help Kevin get this thing going before the Classic. Looks like I might have a new VW1500 buddy locally. That will motivate me to get my cars done!! Cool

I plan on going over to Kevin's place today or tomorrow and going over this car from bumper to bumper. Stay tuned for dozens of pictures. Nothing motivates the message boards than the experts chiming in on what is wrong and how they can help! I am really excited!!
