Hey, I'm looking to get front discs for my 74 Thing, I've seen the packages that cost about $165, all the way up to $900. I need the wide 5 rotors. So where did those of you that have disc brakes get them? and what package or whatever did you get? thanks.

Jeremy

You might want to get the ones that have replacable rotors, I think the CB kit has them.

$165 for front wide five disc brakes is a way good price. $900 is way high. I run 5 x 130 using Ghia and Porsche parts. I can now configure for offroad or freeway flyer using mostly stock vw/porsche parts. CSP parts has the good German quality parts but you need to pay the good price for their parts. My offroad Thing has CSP 5x130 cross drilled front rotors ahve 14 x 220 mm press in studs that are rear welded and my has CSM spun aluminum bolt together rims that are 5 x 130 with a 4.5 x 15 width. My road car will run Porsche phone dial rims that are 7j 15 23.3 mm offset. K-mann

Check out SoCal Imports. They have a very good set up for 499 $. American (heavy) rotors and all other parts are OEM VW. Rabbit calipers etc. If installed you can't tell these are discs. You have to run 15" wheels.

I found Neil (spelling?) disc brakes, theyre supposed to be top of the line for $975. Found them at Victory Import Auto Parts. a place in sacramento. So far I've come to the conclusion that i would rather buy the package from SoCal Imports for $499. anybody have differing opinions and why? just trying to do my homework.
thanks.
