Can we start a new thread here to post camp site pictures (based around the Vanagons and Eurovans)? I know "Vanagons in the wilderness" thread has a few. But I want to see how everyone sets up camp around their VW.

If it has a VW in it, you can upload it to the Samba gallery.

add the url (address in the top address bar) to your reply, highlight it, then click the "img" button.

If it does not have a VW in the picture, upload it to one of the many image web site's and then do the same thing as above.

Sorry if I'm unclear, I'm not the best technical writer (or any writer for that matter)

Near Tok in Alaska. The tarp helps keep the sun from baking the interior.

Here's our mess. Every time we go out we seem to pack more stuff. Those are plastic baggies with water and pennies in them hanging from the awning. It's supposed to keep flies away. Not sure if it worked.

We refer to this site as the haunted place. First time we camped here I went for a hike along the creek that's nearby and came upon the remains of an old cabin in a particularly dark part of the woods. No body around for miles...and I hear a woman laughing or screaming(I couldn't tell which) just beyond the trees. The next time we camped here, our dogs went totally apeshit in the middle of the day barking at nothing while they stared at one spot in the woods right next to camp. Some other weird stuff has happened to us here but I'll save that story for later. Wink

BTW. The site is near Snowy Range Ski Area, Wyoming if anyone wants to check it out for themselves

Fngruvn, that sound you heard, the woman laughing/screaming is a mountain lion. No wonder your dogs went crazy! BTW am headed in your direction next weekend, with girlfriend, in my 2wd Westy. Camping, then picking up a couple of engines at RMW. Camping recommendations welcome (barring 'screaming woman' site!)

Yep - likely a lion. Nobody knows for sure why they do that. I've heard it, too. Sends chills up my spine as I know what it is instantly rather than wondering or thinking "how can I help?". For me, it's "where's my mtn lion repellant...?"
