Yep, I've seen that one too! Shoot, by my own count over the past couple weeks Bozeman can lay claim to about 20 Vanagons, mostly westies, and at least 6 syncros. A small sampling:
- My friend's silver 2wd westy
- Other friend's orange 2wd westy
- My maroon 2wd westy (finally working again and should be out and about quite a bit this week)
- That blue one in your photo
- A blue syncro westy with tubular bumpers and a ladder on the back (belongs to the neighbor of another friend - who owns a bay window camper)
- A blue syncro tin top with Suby conversion (often seen driving down from Bridger Canyon)
- My old neighbors silver westy
- A white syncro westy with suby conversion (currently over at the vw dealer for repair)
- that one parked across the road from Smith's
- a 1 owner 1990 weekender with 80k original miles that has been garaged for the last 15 years (I just met the owner and he's considering selling it to Go Westy because he's never been able to keep it running)...
I saw a post on here a while ago where some folks had a mini-gathering over at Beartrap Canyon. My wife and I wouldn't mind some sort of club/gathering, so let me know if you hear of anything. _________________ '91 Westfalia GL Automatic (GTA "Turbo" Rebuild w/Peloquin) and 2.3L GoWesty Engine |

A red Eurovan contractor at my apt bldg today. Didn't even realize it was a VW van until I saw the words Eurovan. Nice dash, its a working van all stripped out in back. More of them I see the more I appreciate the Vanagons. Nothing personal, just tooooo big a nose Somehow it's just not the classical look. _________________ '09 2.5L Jetta 5 cylinder, 5 spd, super turbo, see thread in H2O Cooled Jetta, etc...

All of these were a couple of weeks ago:
Heading to SyncroFest
Burgundy Westy on Highway 58 in the hills section.
Blue Vanagon (darn, don't remember where; but driver gave a wave )
In Yosemite
Cream & white Westy; had bikes on the back and an awning (was driving up to a trailhead while we were leaving the campground).
White Westy at Yosemite Falls:
Walking to the falls, I spied out of the corner of my eye a silver Westy in the employee compound:
Walked back from the falls to the road to see another silver Westy:
Took the shuttle to Curry Village, got off the bus and found a burgundy Westy waiting:
Leaving the park, saw another cream & white Westy; didn't have bikes on the back and couldn't see the passenger side so I don't know if it was the same one we saw earlier.
Passed a silver Westy just off of 395 while headed to Death Valley. Driver gave a big wave back.
Parked at the Dunes, a brown Westy from Canada:
Leaving Death Valley, passed another silver Westy. Driver didn't wave back. _________________ ~Kamz

Spotted this beauty last Friday. It was camped next to me (mine is the white one) at the Horsethief Campground near Canyonlands NP. It is a '90 with only 71,000 miles and is owned by a nice couple from Seattle.

Yep, I did see one today. I saw Scooby and didn't realize how powder blue it is in color. When I looked at it, it was like I had to pinch myself to remind me that I indeed do have a Vanagon _________________ '09 2.5L Jetta 5 cylinder, 5 spd, super turbo, see thread in H2O Cooled Jetta, etc...

There are a ton of Vanagons here in town, but I rarely encounter them out on the road while I'm driving mine. Today by happenstance, there were three of us all in a row, randomly forming a line as we drove along 4th Ave. in the same lane for a stretch of about 7 blocks...what are the odds of that? _________________ Casey--

On 91 north in Mass just below Greenfield I drove passed a late model with a hightop. I think it said adventurewagen on the back. Honked when I passed it and sped on up to Vermont. Beautiful weather for a vanagon drive!! _________________ 1985 Wolfsburg Edition Westfalia Camper Bostig conversion

I discovered recently that what I thought was a basic hardtop van on our dog walk loop in the 'hood is actually a sunroof van, making it a whole new deal. |

On my morning motorcycle commute I spied a burgundy '91 Westy that had just completed inspection at a station on Patterson Avenue in Richmond VA. It also had the GoWesty wheel/tire package and the receiver hitch. |

Sounds nice. I haven't seen that one yet. I'll be on the look out! _________________ 1987 Syncro Westy "June" |

Saw a brown hard top today in Gadsden, Al. What are the odds? Thought I was the only one. Had a nice little traffic light chat with the guy. _________________ '82 A/C Vanagon Westy |

Anybody lose their vanagon?
There's a mid 80's round headlight vanagon that's tan color on the side of the road. It's around mile marker 13 on I-70 just west of grand junction CO.
There was a cop parked just behind it so I didn't see it till I was right on it.
It appeared abandoned and the luggage rack was missing and the westy top looked askew. _________________ 89 Bostig powered syncro westy |
