I bought a "lot" of Ghia parts a while back. Most were Low Light parts and there is an NOS VW main wiring harness I would like to identify.
The part number is........ 141 971 011....

Can anyone identify it? I will upload a picture of the harness. Cant get the tag to come out clear because of the camera flash.

Thanks... Rich

The part number is incomplete, it needs a letter after the numerals. Have a look at this page from the KGPR online catalogue: http://www.karmannghia.com/products.asp?strSearch=...partNumber

My parts book says its the main harness, the one that runs front to rear down the side of the car. Looking at the colours I'd agree with that. This below I've copied for you from the book. Like John says, the suffix letter is important to distinguish the year model.

141 971 011 C ........ from chassis 3 192 507 to 145 999 000 ............ model 141 143
141 971 011 H ........ from chassis 142 2000 001 to 142 3200 000 .... model M9: 141 143
141 971 011 T ........ from chassis 141 2000 001 to 142 3200 000 .... model 141 143
141 971 011 BB ...... from chassis 142 2000 001 to 142 3200 000 .... model 141 143
141 971 011 CK ...... from chassis 143 2000 001 ............................... model 141 143
141 971 011 CP ...... from chassis 143 2000 001 ............................... model M138: 141 143
142 971 011 A ........ from chassis 3 192 507 to 145 999 000 ............ model 142 144 (RHD)
142 971 011 H ........ from 142 2000 001 .......................................... model M9: 142 144 (RHD)
142 971 011 T ........ from 141 2000 001 to 141 32000 000 ............. model 142 144 (RHD)
142 971 011 BB ...... from 142 2000 001 to 141 32000 000 .............. model 142 144 (RHD)
142 971 011 CF ...... from 143 2000 001 .......................................... model 142 144 (RHD)

I hope this info helps

Nicholas

Thanks guys!

There is a C after the numbers. After looking myself it seems to be a harness for a 66. Does that seem right?

Rich

No,
'66 has a completely different part number for its main loom.

with the C suffix yours is seems to be from chassis 3 192 507 to 145 999 000 which is the start of the '61 model to the last of the'65 models LHD variants

Nicholas,

Thanks for clearing this up for me. The KGPR link John provided listed the part # as a 66 harness. Very confusing for me.

Thanks again... Rich

No worries Rich, you're quite welcome. I find the electrical stuff easy to understand but I know it is difficult for those who struggle with wires. I figure why not help where I can 'cos I certainly have my weaknesses that get by when others help me.

So, I just got the part book out again for the '66 part numbers...and a '66 is supposed to be thus...

141 971 014 D ........ from 146 000 001 to 146 31000 000 ............. model 141 143
142 971 014 D ........ from 146 000 001 to 146 31000 000 ............. model 142 144 (RHD)
