Are there any reptile owners/keepers in Sambaland? I've always been into reptiles ever since I was a kid. Here are a few of my scaley friends:

This is my male Jackson's Chameleon:

Nice looking critters,

I have been out of the reptile/amphibian thing for about ten years, miss it sometimes.

Out of the hundreds of reptiles I have had in the past,my favorite has always been the tortoises especially the Yellowfoots ,redfoots, and Sulcatas.

Not raising reptiles at this time but I have always liked turtles. If I see a Box Turtle on the roads in Oklahoma I will usually stop and pick them up. Too many people here use them as targets for their tires. I let them loose in the back yard. Feed them fruits and vegetables. In the morning they are always waiting for me on the patio. One year while cleaning up the flower beds I found seven baby Box Turtles. I had three adults at the time and obviously two of them were busy getting busy although I would guess that it was really slow busy.

My neighbor has a 90 pound African Tortoise. It will follow you around the yard. Spends it's winters in a pen in her garage.

It's a lot faster then you think. Pretty violent too.

I have a few box turtles and we usually get a litter or two each summer.

No reptiles in my house, but we have a tree stump in our yard that houses garter snakes. The decayed root system must be quite a haven for them.

Last year I accidentally ran over two of them (Snakey and Jakey as my daughters called them) with my lawn mower. Sad I thought that we didn't have any more as a bunch of bees moved into the stump.

However, when walking around the property last week, I noticed some writhing masses. Getting their groove on, I image. Cool

Mowing in that area is a bit tricky and I have to do it early in the morning before they are out and about.

I own a Russian box turtle. One summer she ran away for a week from our backyard. Came back with a cracked and scratched shell. We've had her for 5 years.

They call them "mating spheres." There is one female in the middle of the mass emitting a pheromone and a hundred males trying to do their thing. Its like a XXX snake film. I've only seen it once and it creeped me out. Cool though.

Cool turtle! I'm more of a turtle guy myself; my wife likes the dragons and chameleons. I guess thats why I like VW Type 1's. They look like turtles on wheels.
