There are trailer lights attached above the regular rear light holes in the last photo.

I think that the best part is that the PO already cut the rear fenders so I can put some monster mudders on it!! YEEEEEEHAWWWW!! So, has anyone fixed rear tire fenders that have been cut? Once I confirm the year, I will order the correct panels for repair. Thanks for all your help.

yes. its fairly common for the rear tire repair. hit up Gerson. he'll get you what you need. and there is no better metal than his for patch panels.

Unless the holes have been filled, the lack of a Volkswagen script above the decklid would lead me to assume its a 62. The wheel well repair sections were also different on 62, and 63 models. So make sure you know for sure what year model it is before you go ordering parts. You can find out by looking up the VIN or the date on the Mcode plate if its still intact.

If its not a walkthru, the front seats will also give away the year, as 62 was a solid bench seat, and 63 came out with the split 1/3 2/3 seats. Looks like the bulkhead may have been cut out, but you should still see tracks on the pedestal if its a 63. Or maybe those have been cut out as well...

Not sure, I am meeting with the owner next week to buy the bus and I will ask him. He has a ton of parts in his yard.

Bulk Head is included, the PO is going to install for me. Really cool guy. He is including all the lights, front seats, bulkhead, front sliding windows and doors that match.
