I was just looking at my wiring diagram and noticed the following: The fuel tank sending unit has a single wire that goes to the gas gauge, then to a "Fuel Gauge Vibrator" then to the fuse box. Maybe that's backward, I should go from hot to ground making the vibrator before the fuel gauge. Anyway, what the heck is that? Is that something on the Speedo so you don't really see it?

It "vibrates" the the voltage so the needle doesn't swing wildly back and forth. These go bad commonly and skew the needle reading either up or down, but it still stays put. You can get new ones from www.busdepot.com for ~$20. The are attached to the back of the speedo.

I would guess they can come before or after the guage since it controls the voltage of the circuit as a whole. But don't ask me, I'm just a shade tree mechanic.
