Paper Towel Holder for your Westy

Not my idea, but a fellow Samba members"! The other day when I met David, a Samba member
on his way to Bus Fusion. He showed me a neat paper towel holder that he did a mod on to fit
on the pop tops' bar that is held in place using clips. The clips that David used are the ones to
hold tools (like a broom) to a wall. I couldn't find the exact clips that David used but instead
found other clips that would work. The whole thing was under $5 and I think the it will work
out great. I used a binder clip to keep the roll from un-rolling with alittle breeze.

that's a neat Idea, simple & cheap.. like the majority of us.

I've found that although a little more expensive then cheapie towels, these Scott brand shop towels are great for camping because...

they DON"T UNRAVEL, they're bonded and can be trusted to not unravel in the wind.. they're also quite durable so you can scrub with them or use less. depending on your mess of course.

We use a soft bungee through the towel tube and hook each end on the pop top bar.

Works well if you're short

Lee Valley sells magnets with key ring thingy's attached to them. A bungee, string or whatever between the two magnets will mount wherever magnets mount.

I like the table leg idea though...every day is a school day...

We have the paper towel inserted (upright) on the front table mount (right behind the driver's seat).

I too kept paper towel rolls on the table leg u til I popped for a TK step. Now I keep the roll shoved under the sink until I need them, and then stick them up on the Buese shelf. I also use the shop towels for all the reasons stated above- they're tough, versatile, and don't unroll themselves if you drop it.

I like this idea, and I really like Alaric's design. Some good ideas shared here. How about creating another thread discussing different storage solutions for our vans. I know there are a few out there, just can't think of any good search terms right now. It would be nice though with camping season upon us.

I made the below for my van over the weekend.

I took a 12" section of PVC pipe, drilled two little holes in the ends, and attached mini bungees to it. Total cost = $4 (including spray paint).

Very simple as you can see, no need to drill any holes or add any permanent hardware. Since it rests against the back of the seat, the wind doesn't unroll it. Plus, you can detach it from the headrest and attach it to a chain-link fence, tree branch, pop-top bar, just about anything. Those of us with weekenders/MV's don't have much to mount to anyways, so this works well for us.

An easy place to keep a roll of paper towels is to slide it on the front table mount leg. The tubing is the correct size for the roll to fit on. Just spin the knob off, slide the roll on the tubing, then re-attach the table leg.

It is always available to the driver and passenger.

Tried it an the breeze from the window was just perfect to unspoiled half the roll all over the back of my van.
