I see this thread has been revived - since my original post a fair few vans turned up built in Aug 67 (I think I saw chassis no. 2000 or so the other day which was an Aug 8th built date ...)
I run EarlyBay.com and keen to get some more info on these early vans - probably a fair chance that a number survive in the US ...Im also looking at buying an Early Westy from the US, so if anyone knows of one for sale, Id be interested (an everyday driver rather than a show bus !) ... |

My bus was built August 25th 1967. It's a 99.9% rust free Euro model. Unique things include: non-padded steel dash, white armrests, no reverse lights, wired for h-4 style lights, no firewall between engine and gas tank, no side markers, painted vent window frames, no front door wing vents, crazy generator regulator bracket, no hazard lights and the bus is one solid color Savannah Beige) not two-toned. It was just pulled out of it's 20+ year stay in the desert.
I will post more pictures once I have it cleaned up and the paint buffed.

Cool, I'm dying to see it! So far mine was the oldest known Savannah Beige, although mine's a euro model so it's solid beige, no two-tone. Just go to gallery and add photo... the rest will explain itself. |

Cool.. then take the forum link above the picture and paste it into your post and voila!
Nice looking bus!
Would you post a picture of inside the engine compartment please. Preferably one of the right side of the engine bay where the generator regulator would be? I would like to see if it's the same as mine. |
