Hello new to the forums and have a coulpe questions. I've been lurking around and doing some research but still need some help. I think its a 1961???

First WA title says 66 when its clearly not. Any suggestions on how to get it fixed.

Second is the front apron correct?? It has 2 rib but not sure if that would be correct..

Third is the 4 tab hood correct??

Fourth I have one hella big logo at bottom lense and one small logo at the top lense. Which is correct??

Thanks!!!!

Nice Patina. Suggest that you could steel wool the major rust off. Then obtain some TR-3 and apply it to the car. I will make the rust shine and helps if from rusitng.
On the year issue, what is on the tunnel, the pan number. That could be 66. Is it a ball joint or king pin front end?

Looks like its a "small window" car and looks like a short axle trans. 66 trans' have long axles so my guess is that the pan wont be a 66. But that's just my contribution to the guessing game Very Happy

'61-'62 seems right, and the vin says '61. '61 was the first year for the non-h front apron, and '63 has a raised emblem hood.

And I have to agree, that is a gorgeous car, I love the patina

Thanks for your help on this!!! I love the car it's a blast to drive. Needs a new steering gear, has massive play in the steering wheel. It has a franklin's adjustable front beam, spindles, new tie rods and entire new brake system. Needs an engine rebuild (leaks bad). The wife unfortunatly doesn't like how low it is so I need to raise it up a bit. The rear jack points will hit the yellow lane turtle things. lol I need to find a rear deck lid. The current one is red and doesn't fit that well. I will take some pics of the inside and under the rear seat with the badge under there.

Sounds like a pan job to me. I bet the vin on your registration matches the pan but not the body. Better hope the body vin doesnt come back as stolen.

Apron and 4 tab are correct even though you will hear others argue about the hood.

Hope it comes back clean.

"TR3 Resin Glaze" is just a brand and type of car wax, available at most FLAPS.

Well the title matches the front vin plate. But I won't know if it matches the pan till this weekend. The car is currently in Olympia, WA and I work in Portland, OR. But I hope it's clean... So I will try some of that TR3 stuff to slow down the rust.. LOL I'm hoping to paint it soon one way or another...

It's actually a Nov. '60 produced body. The chassis #'s listed in the table are for the LAST vehicle produced in that month.

Front apron looks like mine on my Apr. '61 built ragtop. But I've seen a Sept. 1960 built '61 with a 3-rib front apron. I haven't been able to pinpoint when the change took place. It's been narrowed down to Oct. or Nov 1960. See discussion on last page of this thread - 1961 One-Year-Onlies...

According to Progressive Refinements, the 3-tab hood started Jan. 2, 1961 with chassis 3 550 952. So the 4-tab hood is correct for your car.

That's a '61. It's my old car - I rescued it from a barn in the Granite Falls area about 2 years ago. I miss that thing - it's a fun cruiser!
