How do I remove the knobs? What is the best way to remove the "louvers"?

pull hard on both

The knobs pull off, the vents have a small tab that they pivot on that has to be bent back carefully to release, don't bend it much (brittle, breaks off), just enough to get the pivot out of it's hole, do one side then the other.
