1958 Karmann Ghia coupé. Made in November 1957 and has been in Sweden since new. It was restored in the late 90's (pan-off, bare metal), the body is very sound, but there are some details to fix. Restoring the ride height is one of them.

There's a cure for that: You have to keep it so long that the pain of the payment fades and just the Ghia stays. Smile

I've had mine (typ14) about 10 years and the price I paid seems almost bearable, now. Wink

And now I notice that my own aren't here at all, oops.

First the small Ghia:

It's a US import to Åland (almost Finland) about 1987, more or less rolling chassis at that point for a seaman (freight value of $280, you didn't get much with that even then Smile . Built to drivable by unknown company there and registered in 1989. Later sold and registered to Finland in 1992. I'm the second owner here and I bought it 2002 as the PO had by that time two kids and Ghia was way too small car for 2 adults and two babies, so he sold it and bought a Bus. Sonderbus if I recall right.

Original engine (and front seats) are who knows where and it had 12V electrics when I got it, so not really a museum piece yet. Parts for correct front seats (frames and small parts) I already have, those needs just painting and upholstering. Colour is Olympia Blue, from 1972. It was used just 2 years so quite rare.

Most recent picture from March 2011:

On trailer because the engine is still sitting on my living room after total rebuild in winter. At that point it also transformed from 1600cc to 1915cc engine with middle Dellorto.

Big Ghia is much more recent, I bought it in summer 2010 and largely with unknown history, except that it has been for sale in many places a long time, several years and at least three different owners. A project car anyway, first goal is to get it registered.

Runs but poorly and brakes stick badly so brake repairs are first on the menu, this summer. (That explains the trailer in this case.) Sea Blue is the colour and many parts have been repainted very badly/with the paintbrush(!).

More pics of both from my homepages (also in profile):
http://kharon.suomiforum.com/www/

There's also a third Karmann -product I'd really like to have: A BMW 635 from the 80s, E24. But I've my hands full with just these two.
