Like the title says, I have a late 55 oval (non semaphore ribbed door) project and I need to know the correct glass it needs. It came with a mish mash of different Sekurit logo styles. I checked the Sekurit thread but I didn't see anything that pertained to my car, if I missed it, please point me in that direction Smile
Also, are all vent wings the same from Zwitter through 55? Where can I find a pair?

Thanks!

The vent wings from 52- Mid 55 were different on ribbed doors..... Your saying you have a later 55, so there more like 56 vent wings..

More like? Meaning I use 56-57 vent wings? Or are they unique to late 55?

Thanks for the reply!

If you have a ribbed door, you use the oct 52-55 vent wings and division bars. You can modify the later vent wings to fit. If you need more info, I can pm you. Smile

Ribbed door is the distinction here. 1955 Year of Manufacture/Ribbed door Cars were built Jan 1 955 - July 31 1955.
August 1 1955 is when the '56 Model Year began production, so it can be confusing when someone says their car was built 'late 55'.
To some people that means later half of '55 production (sounds like you) and to others, it means Aug-Dec 1955, which again is a '56 MY.

See above note about confusing YoM vs Model Year. I know you know this after working on your car... Wink

Yepp - however, the SEKURIT letting may not match, since by then they went to small lettering.
I guess you could use older correct glass and the newer, modified vent metal with the older style vent lock.

Early June '55 glass still had the single large logo with "D-01/AS-2" and the "snake" (same as '54).

I have a late '55 (July 9th '55) and I have the large logo on the windows. The large logo is for all '54 and the first 7 months of '55 (1-1-55 to 7-31-55).

I thought there would be confusion if I just said "late 55"... that's why I included the "non sema/rib door" info Wink

Ok... Unfortunately for the purists, I'm not restoring this one to stock. The shell has had a '57 tank forward clip put on it (well done at least, but they didn't swap the body number), and sits on a different '57 pan. But it's perfect for what I want to do with it, which is a uber traditional mid '70's cal look car. I thought having the correct '55 style glass would be a nice touch, but it looks like it will be more work than it's worth, so I'll use the later oval stuff I already have.

So, how does one go about modifying the later vent wings to work in a ribbed door?

Thanks for the help so far!

When I got the car it was a bare shell with doors (also bare). I've since sourced regulators, lock mechanisms, and a lot of other parts for the car (mostly incorrect Very Happy like I said this is no concours original build).

I'll try to get pics up soon, but I'm sure no one here will be impressed with its current condition!
