It's a mechanical fuel injection system. Pretty old school technology. They do look mean though.
I like yamaducci's idea about using later injectors and an EFI ECU. |

Primitive fuel injection.
Those are for WOT driving. Good luck getting them to come off idle with any civility. Tuning was done by swapping small flow valves similar to washers with a hole in them. Bigger on inlet meant going smaller on outlet etc. PITA to tune but the power gains were awesome. Then Weber 48 IDA caught on and made them more or less obsolete. _________________ 71 Ghia Coupe - stock body - no rust! if the butterfly shafts are not worn out they could be used for EFI as some have suggested, only other consideration would be a race only methanol set up but you're missing a whole lot of basic & expensive parts. As for use as a completely mechanical, gasoline, street-able system... forget about it. |

The earliest fuel injection from Chevrolet back in the mid 50's was all mechanical. I know NOTHING about the specifics of that system but it was a rare upgrade on Vettes and such. How was it streetable? _________________ www.LoCashRacing.org

This is from a 1970 Hot Rod Magazine on the early Hilborns. Interesting 1970 progress.

A local guy has been building and racing USAC Midgets for many years and in the early years the Crower and Enderly systems were all that was used on the ACVW engines. He actually has a wooden crate with about 150 Crower and Enderly throttle bodies sitting in it....1/2 of them have been broken off the head during a wreck. I have 4 of them converted to incorporate EFI injectors. All I need to do is find a job so I can afford to finish the project. _________________ Jerry...
