idle control valve doesn't vibrate but also no electrical power to the switch will try to follow wire and maybe find bad ground?? very difficult to follow. can I create a new source of power off air massflow connection?

If it were the idle control valve it would keep running and not die.

The problem is more likely a hose that has been knocked off creating a massive air leak.

To Bass and Wild Air leaks checked and some lines replaced better throttle control gained however can attain 1200 to 4000 rpm but can't get idle. I had read in older thread that with the ignition on, idle control valve (not idle control module) should vibrate is this true? Would applying spray lubricant in the control valve be kosher, possible loosening if stuck. Thanks in advance your prior help has gotten me to seeing the light at the end of this tunnel.

You can spray the idle control valve with carburetor cleaner and it may improve its functioning for a while. Yes it should vibrate if it is working correctly.

Back to square one I have no live wires zip zero connecting to idle stabilizer/control module that's eight connections. Anybody know what my next step should be on this 88 vanagon motor. Engine will start no problem but will not hold any thing close to idle rpm range.

Try another idle stabilisation relay? It's fitted the in front of the right rear light cluster - a double relay size relay. They do die.

Stabilizer coming Tuesday. Shouldn't I get some current when I test wires that plug into the stabilizer?

PostPosted: Tue Jul 26, 2011 1:01 pm    Post subject: ecu not switching to ground any home mechanic fixes? Reply with quote

If continuity is not present, check for continuity between terminal No. 85 of fuel pump relay and terminal No. 3 of ECU connector. If continuity is present, circuit is okay but ECU is not switching to ground. Replace ECU and install fuel pump relay.
When I manually ground relay idle control vibrates

Any updates on this? I'm having a high idle issue. At first it would idle around 3000rpm with the idle control valve hooked up. If I disconnected the valve it would go down to around 1000rpm, then back up to 2100rpm after driving it. Today it was around 2100 either way. Disconnecting the module behind the tail light didn't seem to make a difference either.
