I have a '67 Squareback original paint Granadarot L650. The wheels dated 11/66 and appear to be original paint black. I have 3 of the 4 trim rings so you would never see the wheels. Is black the original color of the wheels? Are there 2-3" white walls in the 165 area available where the white goes to the rim?

Yes, they are semi-gloss black. The trim rings hide most of the black.

Whitewalls are available from Coker Tire.

I would say the majority of '67s came with black walls or thin (3/4"?) whitewalls. Unfortunately thin whitewalls are not longer available cheap either.

I wonder what those dirt track tires would look like on a square.

What's going on here Everett. Those look like 66-67 bug wheels to me. Were you running non-original wheels on your Notch??

The original owner used those rims when he wanted to run the mud and snow tires. It had all 5 original rims but the 2 rear tires were shot so I had to drive home on the "meaty" tires.

Actually, my squareback has studded snow tires with little whitewalls on it, they look really old. The car was parked back in '81.

I wanted to go with a bigger whitewall on this one, the little WW looks good in the brochure. I'll check with Coker.

Thanks

The funny thing was that I put those tires up for sale and someone came over and bought them just to get the original paint rims for their low-mileage '67 Beetle. I guess my rims were nicer...
