Niagara Falls
(okay my photography leaves something to be desired, but it sure was a kickass parking spot to get the van and the falls!) _________________ '84 Vanagon GL (1.9L) - "Colonel Brown" |

We stopped off at the 1930's era "Airplane Filling Station" today. The pumps are long gone and for a long time, the land mark was in disrepair. A few years back a group got together and restored the landmark.

We saw that on the road from Knoxville to Clinton. We went past it in the pouring rain one afternoon last fall while it was being worked on and I did not get to go back for a photo. On the same road minutes earlier we'd seen a high-speed chase oncoming with about 6 cop cars in pursuit of a Suburban going way too fast. |

AWESOME! I some how forgot to tell where it was. US 25 from Knoxville to Clinton just around the Powell community. Dating from the 30's, it was a gas station I believe. Just like in "Cars", when I-75 opened north to Lexington, KY. I imagine things on US 25 began to fade away.
I was really pleased to see it restored, I hadn't been in the area for a number of years and wanted to show the kids. I was worried it may have met the demise of the Dozer.
Campism, next time you're in Knoxville, PM me before hand. Lots of good refreshment areas if you know where to look, it's not all Applebee's. _________________ Imagine that, theres not an "h" in either Westfalia or Syncro? |

This is definitely not a nature photo. Sure I'm not the first to take this pic either.

I drove up to play in a golf tournament this morning, and I saw this Conestoga Wagon mock-up on the way there. I stopped in and took a photo in front of it. The original Wagon and the later model.

Nestled between two prototype nuclear airplane turbines...
Wonder if they'd be a good engine conversion candidate for an air-cooled? No need to run a radiator up front... might take some cutting to make it fit, though... _________________ 1980 Full Camper, been in the family since it was brand new!
