I really love this sleeping dog moment.

Took that with my phone soon after I had purchased the van. I was cleaning it out... dog was checking it out... bed was down and she took a nap. My dog has never taking the same liking to any other car I own Smile

We bought our camper from a woman who owned two of the little dogs and until she started researching VW campers online in preparation for selling it she never knew the campers were called Westies.

Koda, a chocolate chihuahua, the best driving dog ever.

He also grabs your warm spot when you get up.

when we take our dogs they are beside themselves with joy. but there isn't much room left for us. we have 2 of the ultimate velcro dogs. rotties.

probably have to take them this weekend, and we will post pictures.

I'm thinking of taking a tent for them.

I just bought my first vanagon camper and am now trying to sort out all of the repair/replace stuff $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. as well as shopping for mechanics - studying Bently , hunting down parts ect... truthfully, it all has gotten a bit depressing.
I also am I dog lover, having two rat terriers.
This post has helped me to remember what great fun there is to be had once this first stage of ownership has passed.
With a vanagon you have the honeymoon a few years after the wedding!
Thanks to everyone who posted.
Eyes on the prize.

spoiled? sure. she's a 15yo 70lb+ weim.

despite the fact she can't run and hike like she used to, she still loves camping and hanging in the westy.

this is from a close-camping-trip last friday morning:

she dozes on her bed on the floor at night and when we're underway, but i'm so happy she's still here to hog the back seat.

Hey! Look! Another pet picture on the Internet!

I can't help it. Ripley is 15, which is old for her size and breed, and I'm trying to take her camping as much as I can while I can. It peels the years off her. And me. If she wants to sneak a morning nap in the lower westy bed after her morning walk, I don't shoo her off.

She does sleep on her bed on the floor at night though. That's her favorite spot due to the heater, I think.
