I'd love to see step by step photo's or video. We're ready to do the same to my heads. Case engineering is now done on test case, ready to do the real one now

This is just a taste of what we have been working lately here at Team BlackLine.

Two years ago we took stock rockers, welded them, and re-machined them to be 1.31:1 ratio. We realized this year, that we had not gone as far as we could have. We welded up another rocker and went to work. We have roughly measured this to be somewhere between 1.45:1 and 1.5:1. This rocker has also been clearanced to use 911 style adjuster screws.

Can I ask something?
What does this do to the cam? The extra load on the lobes, and the side thrust you are applying to the lifters, by running the push rods at the slight angle?

We ran our last engine with the 1.31:1 rockers over 8000 RPM multiple times, and it spent much of it's life between 6000 and 7500 RPM. We set both of our world records with those rockers. We are using our inserted lifters, so we can run the angle on the push rod without worry. We did ruin a cam in our race engine, but that was because of a poor cam profile, (this next engine's is muuuuuch better). We think that these rockers have proven themselves. We aren't worried at all.

if you lower the seat even lower it will give you more raito at the begining of the lift cycle ,thus opening the valve faster sooner.and the same on the closing end, faster lator. build one like that, degree the cam for the first .150" at the valve make a chart.then put in a shorter push rod about .075 to.125or so. and the new lowered seat rocker and repeat the cam degreeing at the valve and compair what is happening. good luck.and keep having fun

New rocker setup. I made lightweight stock 1:1 rockers for this years 1378cc turbo motor. I have a much better cam now and I want to be a lot easier on all the valvetrain. I weighed about 70 stock rockerarm assemblies and they range from about 93 grams to 101 grams each. The pictured set are all about 81 grams now and still reliable. ALso here are some pictures of the 2011 36hp challenge motor (new age class), 912 cw crank, Beru Porsche oil cooler, S90 flywheel, many case modifications, and the improved Brukrasa heads.

sure that it still will be a 1378cc with that opened heads Wink looks like it will now be a about 1600cc +/- also because liners and pistons are not on the pic Wink ok you also could use 40hp liners Wink but the surface for the liners don't look like for 77mm bore Wink

i really like that way with stock heads, stock rockers. its so F****** beautiful. but why not the ratio rockers again this jear? or are they still a option? my porsche 356 rockers are 88g on the exhaust and 91g on the intake and much more ballanced than stock. all the weitht that is gone was from the one side with the screw.

i wish everybody a wunderful speedweek
chris

PostPosted: Tue Aug 09, 2011 8:29 pm    Post subject: Responses to Grueni's questions Reply with quote

Grueni, the motor is only 1378 cc for this year's motor. Last year I went to 1582 cc, 912 Biral pistons & cylinders and it was not as free reving as it is at 77 mm bore. The heads are flycut to fit the 912 dome top pistons but the sealing flat area was purposely left wide enough the fit 77 bore or 82.5 base. I have lapped the cylinders to the heads just to make sure I have a complete sealing surface.

I am going to start this year with the light stock rockers but can switch if necessary to the high lift set. The heads, guides, springs are all set to use either setup. The valve train, lifters, etc. are the weak links on these 36 HP motors so the lighter the better on all valve train parts.

The paint on most of the parts is to keep the Bonneville salt from eating away the mag & aluminum parts.

Bville Tom

I almost cried when I took my buggy out of storage this spring and I spent a lot of time washing it last Sept. when I got home, that is some special kind of salt, I think it must be part acid.........

Good luck this year Tom, would be nice to see you again. Be down next year barring any unforeseen circumstances.

BEAUTIFUL parts........

the elcheepo valve covers that crode in a day or less have been fine for 6 years now, since I alodined them& shot some clear on them, before the clear just came off or croded under them, and polishing every week gets old fast.+ now there a nice goldish collar, some things turn blue or if the solution gets contamanated with steel things turn blue,or if left in to long, I have a sump that is bright gold execpt for about 1 inch of it from the end is blue.
