Not a covered grill, but super compact, easy to use, clean, put away and store. Sometimes these are better than other facets. Especially for our camping style, I like the interior to be pretty clean as far as stuff.

^^^ I like it. If I didn't need a covered grill this would be a good choice for me.

I love my covered grills, but short weekend stints? This is fine.
Have a nice stainless steel grill I bought from Sam's, $100. However, while compact, would take a lot of room. I have an easy place to store it on one f my storage bays on the motorhome, but the Westy?

My grill goes on top in a storage bag along with camp chairs, etc.

I like the Charcoal Grill very much. It accepts any number of cooking devices, open slot grills, solid griddles, fry pans, etc.. Its fun to cook on, and fun to sit next to as a personal heater. A single load of charcoal cooked fajitas, pancakes, and boiled water for tea, plus creating a warm spot to sit next to.

And fwiw, once its lit, charcoal makes no smoke, and no flame, so the cooker is somewhat stealthy, reduces the potential fire safety concern of passers by. Technically the use of Charcoal is only allowed when Fire Bans are lifted, at least in Los Padres National Forest.

Know the rules in your area, be fire safe, and leave no trace.

We love the Cobb grill, used it for years. I find a few more than 8 briquettes are nice tho. For me it works better as an oven than a grill. Tv or fast grilling and to really sear meat, we use a gas grill called element. Both are great and pack small.

http://www.amazon.com/Cobb-CB042-Portable-Disconti...able+grill

We got the Cobb on woot, I think. Nowhere near the regular price. I've found other racks and baskets that work with it as well. Nice portable kitchen, really. Lots of charcoal and it will cook a long time at even temps.

LP fire pit for the win! Okay, its not the smokey goodness of briquets or charcoal or my Trager, but it has multiple uses and keeps me from dragging one more item on a CAMP trip. Less is more, light is right etc. If I had a Bluebird bus, I would pack them all!

this is the CHARCOAL Grill thread Dude!Smile.

REAL Charcoal, not Propane, which requires safely transporting an Explosive, and connecting it to a fire burner through a rubber hose. Thats all covered in YOUR thread about fire pits. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=619610&start=0

there is also a thread about Propane Grills here
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4...;start=120

But THIS is the CHARCOAL thread Twisted Evil

Not a big fan of the Cobb ... I have one but we mostly grill. The cob is good for slow cooking because you can't get the heat up high. I drilled more holes to add more oxygen and add more charcoal. But....still .... Lacking and kind of big... I'm not throwing it out yet..... I can't wait to try my new one....http://campfireinacan.com/caincanwochp.html#.VPpYl4Y76rU

I have an original pyromid version. It is an excellent grill that takes virtually no space. Mountain equipment coop sells the new version in Canada.

This is a great grill...

The 'folding firebox' is a cool looking product but I don't have personal experience with it.
