This problem has existed ever since the conversion debuted. new filter--bosch.
she ran better today with the 89 auto pump, but the ce lite and fluttering still exists, so I got a new bosch filter today. tomorrow will see--I also didnt know the history of these pumps [age, etc]
but I cant cruise at 80 for more than a couple of minutes and the fluttering occurs. the ce light goes out at 62 mph.
its not like I like cruising at 80, but I pass sleepers now and then.

Unless the pump is making noise, it is likely good. They are only a problem when the get noisy.

Since you swapped pumps, I bet that is not this issue.

You may well have another issue since it has been doing it since the conversion was done.

There are so many little things you may have done wrong, one can only guess as to what it may really be.

You may wish to hook a computer up and watch in real time what the display indicates.

You do have a VSS right?

This is probably a long shot, but do you have your fuel lines plumbed correctly? It would be easy to get the high and low pressure connections on the Subaru FI mixed up, since they're side by side and look the same...
