|
|
Can anybody tell me the easiest way to find the exact year my engine was built. I heard of this code but no not where to look. Fan shroud? my best guess. I need specific year as the part i need depends on it. There are 3 choice from what i see 75-78 1/2 or 78 1/2-79 or 79-83. What the heck is mine? where to look |

Stick your head into the engine compartment, and with a flashlight look down at the case next to the breather. You may have to wipe some grime off. Don't go by the fan shroud, as they do get switched out. When you find the number, consult your Bentley; end of engine section. _________________ 1978 Sage Green Westfalia (Happy Trails, SOLD)

I would presume that it's stamped on the block somewhere. But that is only a guess. I will check the couple of Service Manuals that I have later in the day. And I will post back my findings |

Your engine code is totally irrelevant at this point. Internals, P&Cs, and heads can easily be swapped from one case to another and it is the internals, P&Cs, and heads that count. |

Just what part do you need?, there may be other factors than engine date that determine the suitability, some suppliers are pretty broad on thier application tables. _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.
