we named our vanagon Gypsy

- it whistles (window seal)

- it sings (bad water pump bearing)

- it plays castagnettes (valve lifter noises)

- it dances (bad shocks)

Very Happy

We had a bug named Gypsy with pretty much the same issues. She just about rusted in half.

Sure. Quick story first. Younger brother buys a 71 Westy with a horrible head light alignment issues. He has yet to perform this easy fix BTW after three years of ownership. Thus his bus inheritted the nick name of "Cross eyed Billy". Just acquired a 86 Weekender with some passenger side rust, brown in color. Running on the same theme, this Vanagon has become "Brown Azz Betty". Of course the spelling is a bit different, but you get the picture.

Serenity-- after a beat up old space ship that everyone loves. Also requiring continuous running repairs. Really the Science fiction equivalent of a Westfalia. I'm a big fan of the now cancelled television series.

1983.5 Westaflia being restored and soon with AAZ Diesel vice 1.9L WBX

My 71 westy is "Hannibal"...Big, white, with a large trunk.
my 87 westy is "Navin Johnson." Just seemed to fit for some odd reason. It's blue, and yes, it is going to stay that color.

We first thought on the drive home from buying our red 1995 German built Eurovan Westie that she would be called Cherry because she was just such a gem. Then when we got her her own licence plate it started with BBK and so she been Lucille ever since. You Blues fans will know why.

La Tortuga.

She carries her home on her back. She's always a little dusty. She spends much of her time lumbering slowly around the California desert. If she doesn't get hit by a car she will live for 100 years.

La Tortuga as well! My 86 West auto is slow, like snail slow. If I knew the Spanish word for snail she just might be named that!
