Lovely shot! Bill's a great guy - please tell him Hello for me, John!

Yep, I really like Bill very nice guy. We sat next to each other at dinner on the Thursday night and talked a lot. Told him I was a bit star struck as I have the "Cruise Across America" DVD where he was interviewed. Wink

If you want to say hi, say it here...Hi Bill! He says he often lurks in the Ghia Forum but doesn't get the time to post very often.

Hi John. I want to thank you and Retrowagon for the nice comments.

I really enjoyed dinner with you and your lovely wife. Last week was a really enjoyable time for me and all the racers meeting you and finally seeing the face behind the comments.

Thanks again, Blush, Blush.

I will not be running the 56 on the salt anymore. I want to keep the car as it is and I am afraid of the caustic effects of the salt. Took two days on my back scraping and washing.

I have already started another car for next year. A 68 I had in the backyard and boy does it need everything. Including a pan replacement.

Thanks again guys. And.... Thank you Everett for the Samba.

With the current stylistic trend towards patinated, crusty-looking, barnyard rescue-style slammed Karmann Ghias, I'd almost rather have an MGA. They tend to stay stock (out of functional considerations?) and thus reflect the simple charm and style of the era they originate from.

Well, you don't HAVE to make yours a crusty barn slammer... Laughing
I think there is less of a tendency to get radical with MGA's because they are a tad more fussy on the mechanical side (I grew up with Triumphs and MG's), while the Ghia is more tolerant of rust and modification.
If it makes you feel better, I'm driving mine as-is for a year or so before restoring it to to stock looking Wink
