figured i would start a thread for my new camper. in a moment of snap judgement i sold my last bus.i had been stuck in the despair of no bus for the last several months. i tried to detoxing with a bay but found no love. searching systematically for weeks by chance i found a ad on portland craigslist that seemed interesting. no pictures minimal info and words like pressed bumpers. i responded immediately and within a week it was in the driveway.

so far all i have done is finished removing the camper additions and get a few parts ordered. got a leaky grb on the drivers side and while the motor fired right up the fluid coming from the gas tank is nasty. for the immediate fun of it all i am going to throw my bay westy kit in the back and drive it as is. besides trail bash is coming soon.

insert happy new driver here

Is it me or does the motor hang to the right more? Possible bent frame horn or bad mounts.

I absolutely love the previous owner dashdoard mods. Those are the kind that you wouldn't do yourself to a nice dash these days, but would be a sin to replace as they add character and a bit of history to what the bus has seen it it's day. I think they make the bus what it is and you must get all those gauges working. Very nice and congrats on realizing that a bay window is well, not a split, to put it nicely.

Is the deluxe clock in the correct spot(ordered that way) or did PO just have a little bit of style and add a clock? Like the white grab handle? Sweet bus.

All the gauges seem to work even the unreadable ones. All this stuff was cut in even the early deluxe clock. For now most of it stays but not quite sure about it long term. Right now get it rolling and useable.

Like your new bus! Seems to have a lot of character and history behind if which I hope you will preserve the best you can while restoring her.
Iv been working on a 1965 single cab that belonged to an old friend of mine who Iv been asking for years now if he would sell it to me as its in fantastic condition, but since she's been sitting for so long It needs to be completely gone through (like the brakes you responded to that I'm working on now)

i made the decision to convert to 12v considering i had all the parts sitting in my garage. glad i did because i found a time bomb.

the bearing is literally falling apart and the arm is spread. better to find now in the comforts of the garage and not on the side of the raod

i will take this opp to drain and clean the gas tank, installing the rear seat belt mounts in its absence.

Nice!
Man I should throw together my camper for that trip...maybe if it doesn't sell by then I'll play musical engines to get it going to make that trip.

I have a dash section I am using the radio section out of. If you want the rest to fix the holes in yours you are welcome to it. it has an earlier pod that is not the same as my 62, more square

As a matter of fact I will see Clara at O.C.T.O and if you and her are friends she probably wouldn't mind bringing it up to you, I also looked at your pod and my donor is shaped like that. let me know
