this happened to me and a friend in college (in the rust belt) - he had just bought a used BMW 1800 and we were jacking it up to put on jack stands
it suddenly lurched to one side (first jack stand penetration), then went down hard _________________ 1986 2.1L Westy 2wd Auto Trans. |

A common, almost popular national past-time in the early 70's was to hop in your beetle and have the driver's seat sink thru the rotted floor board.
I personally knew about 5 or 6 this happened to .... usually in winter for some reason. |
