|

When cruising the Samba it is inevitable that you're going to find your beetle's twin at some point, and I had the luck to find one locally early this summer!
Not only is Eric Shoemaker's '67 is a year and color match with mine, but is an excellent example and resource for stock restoration and checking it out in person was an awesome motivational experience.
Anyone else out there seek out and find their Doppelgängers? I'd love to see more pictures of other long lost twins reunited!

Hey, my brother and I do own very similar 61 pearl white rag tops, both registered originally in our home town (Constance in the very south of Germany), registered only four days apart (1st and 4th of April) and with very similar registraion numbers (855 and 857).
While I bought mine in miserable condition cheap in 1987 and restored it with the help of my brother, we found his in 1992 in better condition for much more money. We left his bug in its original paint, cleaned and brushed up.

both are 1958's and both are Dove Blue... mine is on the right...

I'm just glad we cleared up what a doppelgänger was. I was about to show something else. _________________ '63 ragtop |

Bought my '65 last year and this year a guy in my VW club comes home with this '66 purchased here on TS in TN. Mine is the one with the bumpers.

My car first day home...
And the infamous 100,000th Emden Beetle Randy Carlson bought...
When I first saw TheSamba ad with it for sale, I thought someone had stolen my car overnight! _________________ -Bruce

I was driving home down the highway one day in one of my other cars and saw a Zenith blue 67 identical to mine. There are hardly any beetles around my area (I can think of less than 10), I freaked and raced home. Figured someone had stolen my car, turns out I'm not as unique as I think.
Never caught a pic though. |

Use to see VDubs all the time a few years back. Lucky to see one or two per week now and it's probably the same one every week . We are a dying breed, live long and prosper!!! |
