we need to go and find some, i would like to have a decent set that don't take up a lot of space _________________ lucy our westy

I don't feel like giving you any info until we can see some pics of Rubba in her new suit of clothes.
A small BBQ, a grill that will fit on the BBQ and on your stove. A good hearty frying pan (with lid is great), one large heavy pot with lid and perhaps a smaller pot. A pressure cooker is really handy and the pot can be used as a regular pot. When I had my sail boats and cruised, it was said that if you only had room for one pot, then make it a good sized pressure cooker (cooking, roasting, baking). oh and I guess you might drink a lot of tea or not so something to boil water in or to make coffee in. I keep some of those non skid material pieces on board to put between each pot and/or lid.

space is less of an issue than it was inside my backpack
I've just been using an old Sigg cook kit, tho I may upgrade to something more elaborate next summer. _________________ 1986 2.1L Westy 2wd Auto Trans. |

For years I was using a pretty generic, thin, stainless steel set (couple of pot, fry pan and lip) and wasn't very happy them. They didn't take up much space (fit in the cabinet directly left of the stove) but heat distribution and the handles were pretty lousy.
I just got a 'Texsport Trailblazer Black Ice Hard Anodized QT Cook Set' ( http://www.campmor.com/outdoor/gear/Product___86743) but haven't had a chance to try them out in the wild.
For $40 they seem pretty nice, thicker aluminum, anodized, nice feel and built in handles. If they don't fit in the 'old pots home', I'll find somewhere for them. They seem the right size for 2-3 people. _________________ "The floggings will continue until morale improves"

I don't have a vanagon westy, but in the bay I use the MSR
http://www.campmor.com/msr-flex-4-cook-system.shtm...keyword%7D
I have always just camped solo, but then that grew to a lady and 2 kids, (12 and 17) the MSR cookset is perfect for all of our needs. We like to cook and eat. It is spendy, but well worth it. There are deals to be found out there. _________________ 86 bostig SYNCRO

I sheepishly admit that I've abandoned real coffee for Starbucks Via while camping.
It's just so easy, and quick, and it's really pretty good. And there's no grounds to clean up.
At home, it's a different story. I'm all about this http://www.olycoffee.com/ _________________ 89' Dove Blue Syncro Hightop |

I usually travel with a full family and the dog so space is at a premium. I'm also often bike racing so space is sucked up by tools/bags/tires/etc. I made a pretty tight a firm list of what gets packed and I use lots of backpacking gear.
MSR Dragon Fly Stove
MSR Flex 4 pot system
MSR Titan Kettle
Lexan Pint glasses (priorities)
Bialetti Espresso Maker (again, priorities)
Sea-B-Que Grill
Full size Aluminum Frying pan
With that combo I can make just about anything I do at home for our group. The one burner stove takes some planning but it's really small and has the power to make coffee extremely fast and still simmer. White gas means I can go a solid week cooking heavy meals on one bottle. |

I'm trying to remember what brand name our stacking pots are and when I do I'll pass it on. They (3) fit inside the big pot which slides under the sink cupboard.
This is for Tim,
I never considered taking it along to grind beans. The noise would certainly please my 12 yr old!

I asked for a coffee grinder from the wife one year to take camping, that's almost
the same grinder she came up with. She got really mad when I couldn't stop laughing
about it.
Now I make sure that I send her links through email. Did you make the base? It looks
good! _________________ '15 Audi A3 Quattro

It's a kit from Lee Valley. I made it to match the tea box on the other end of the counter. It works...slowly. It was a project I did without her even knowing. You can keep on giggling.
As far as pot sets go for the OP...I found them at Cabela's,Campmor,Mec and a couple local stores websites. Maybe the chicken mans google search was lacking in proper key words...

+1 for the MSR cookset. A little pricey if you're on a budget though. _________________ __________________________________

I stopped by a Ross Store to get some cheapo work shirts and ended up scoring a nice new set of of pots and pans ( some Italian stuff...I forgot the name ) for really cheap !!!!! Early on in my camping days, I bought a budget set of aluminum pots and pans but they didnt hold out for very long. This time around, I got a real good quality set for a song and a dance and they've held up quite nicely.
Cheap is cheap but quality bought for cheap will outlast crap bought for cheap. I learned my lesson. |

Yes you need to go with quality for sure. Don't waste your time and $$$ and propane on cheap. Trust me they'll pay for theirselves many a time. Don't forget a few good cooking utensils but you can get them at a second hand shop.
We have several chefs in here that cook up storms and stealth camp, etc..., hopefully they'll speak up earlier than later _________________ '09 2.5L Jetta 5 cylinder, 5 spd, super turbo, see thread in H2O Cooled Jetta, etc...
