Faster advance curve and more stable/steady advance through the range.

The 010 is far superior in quality to the 009, even the german made 009

Glenn I'm sure will fill you in on more details, he is the 010 guru! Very Happy

If it's *new* (and looks it), sell it to a vintage collector who will pay the bucks for a mint badge and other pieces. Then buy a modern distributor with the ca$h. That's what I would do.

The 010 is superior to the 009. It has a more agressive advance and they run smoother. The new 009s have some serious quality control issues.

It doesn't matter if it's new or used... use it. You should take it apart, clean and lubricate it. I have seem distriutors that have been sitting for years that have some corosion.

You can tell if it's truely new by the o-ring. The original o-rings were tan in color and the new ones are black. The condensor should have a yellow wire and the cap should be dark brown.

Here's my NOS Bosch 010.

And here's what the original tuenup parts look like compared to the current parts.

As we all know by know the 009's have serious quality control problems. I can account for that first hand. I'm on my second 009 and I'm not impressed.
Glenn, this question goes out to you.
Would you recommend a 010 or a 019 for a stock 1600dp? And what is the price from you?
I need a dizzy that I can use now and take to my new motor.

Can you actually feel a difference in the way the motor runs between a new 009 and one of Glenn's 010????
Crap, I just bought a new 009 for my car from Berg. 56.00 too! Dam, I want one of those for my new motor Glenn!

For a bone stock, the 019 is probibly best. It has a similar advance curve to the 009. It also works well with a mild performance engine.

The 010 works well with mild to high performance.

Can you feel the difference?

I sure did. I replaced the German 009 I had in my 1904cc with Berg HEI ignition with a 010 and noticed the improvement the first time i stepped on the gas. After a week I reinstalled the 009. The performance was a serious drop and I put the 010 back in.

I will rebuild your distributor and sell you one outright.

http://www.glenn-ring.com/4sale or contact me privately.

Email me. I can supply you with a Bosch shim kit and insulator kit. I also have access to some of the other parts. But not all are available.

The BR8 and BR25 are early versions that became the 019 and 010.

The BR8 has the same weights and curve as the 019.
Thr BR25 has the same weights and curve as the 010.

The newer 019 and 010 have a design change where the shafts spin in brass bushings while the older BR8 and BR25 spin in the cast iron body without bushings.

Not yet.

I haven't bothered to work on 009 since they are cheapr to buy new than to rebuild. I haven't had the oppertunity to work on a 050. The parts i get are "generic" Bosch kits and fit many different models.

If you want to send me a 050, i'll be happy to take a look at it and if I can fix it, i'll do it for the cost of parts and shipping. But only on the 1st one I get. Kind of a R&D discount.
