I'm a political science major that was once an aspiring politician. I even worked on Capitol Hill for a congressman for a short stint (he was recently taken out by a scandal -- glad I didn't stay!). Working in Washington was enough to scare me off for good. I started working at a bike shop in Georgetown to help pay the bills while I was working on the Hill, and I never looked back. Bikes are a much more relaxing and rewarding occupation than politics. I now use my poli-sci degree and my knowledge of government, interest groups and politics to get more bike facilities and mountain bike trails built.
In my opinion, finding a politician that drives a Vanagon would be like spotting a unicorn. That being said, I do know a gentleman that lives in southern Indiana that has held elective office that currently owns 4 Vanagons (3 Westies and a Pass Van). _________________ "See The Glass As Already Broken."

They have tons of designs, I have a pair of 'special' boat shoe crocs (only 6 pairs made). Narrow for my feet and I can get by wearing them to class and no one knowing I'm wearing crocs. Instead I just look like a hipster in Sperry's. _________________ 1990 Vanagon Carat-SOLD
