Well, I really want a bus and I have a bug. In the "trades" category, I always see trade bug for bus ads. My bug is worth about 4000, do you think anyone would trade a decent split bus for that? |

$4K Bug = running, driving, painted, nice.
$4K Bus = probably going to need another 5K to make it look half as good as a 4K bug. |

Unless that bug had a split window in the back, doubt someone would do an even trade. You might get a bay window even trade. _________________ 62 Standard Type 2 (Nothing Fancy)

I have found most bus people are bus people, bay window or split. The likely hood of them giving up there bus for a beetle is not so good. They are more inclined to add a beetle to there bus, providing it doesn't get in the way of more buses. |

An there's the pink elephant in the room: the bug you think is worth $4k is probably worth $1k in the eyes of a bus person.
That being said, Janai (sp?) got a nice double cab in trade for a running, driving bug. _________________ -Thom

I traded a 58 bug that I had painted, lowered, put in bigger engine and race trans, new seat covers custom made by a DVKK member in Canada, and the lot... Unfinished interior, not a perfect car but done up well and a blast to drive. I swapped it straight across for a beastly but fairly solid NOT running 1960 panel. I then restored the panel which took even MORE of my money and TONS of my time. I miss that panel. I don't really miss the Bug. There are trades out there, yes, just gotta be patient. _________________ The best things in life aren't Things

I recently traded my 1966 bug which was a cali car - no rust at all, og paint, 1915 engine, restored interior, narrowed front beam and a set of BRMs (repops).
For a 1963 double cab which needs a lot of work but is fairly solid, drives and stops. It came with 5 gates, but the all need work to be installed. I love the DC and cannot wait to get started on the resto.

^^the trade abo0ve is a once in a lifetime trade. doesnt happen often. i tried to trade my resto mod no rust, all new paint, lowered, fresh 1600 for a bus and couldnt find anyone to trade. sold the beetle and bought a bus and put more money in that. love my bus. id never trade for a beetle.
to the OP, you might be better off selling the beetle and buying a bus. even up trades are most likely not gonna happen. _________________ 1960 Bus Panel/Camper |

As Bus owner for many years, trading for a bug would be considered a "downgrade" in my book. _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

Id trade my bus for........oh wait, I already have a 66 bug. I think eventually if you want to trade that bad and are patient......you will find a decent opportunity. But be prepared to wait, ask around, hunt, excessive foot work, ect. Might be a good long while or could be tomorrow. You could just keep the bug and do the hunt for a fixer upper bus so we can have another build up thread _________________ Waiting for santa to drop off funky green. I can wish can't I???? |

I wouldnt even trade my split bus for a split beetle and its only a standard. Beetles are just too small. _________________ April 3rd 62 standard mgr/pw
