*Didn't feel like reading pages 2 and 3*
Have you started parting it out?
I've got some rust in some areas I might need a few panels for. |

Heck, if you'd just read the date you'd see this was two years ago. I'll bet that bus is LONG gone. Peace! _________________

I suggest reading pages 2 and 3, that's some seriously funny shit.
Since this thread is here, may I suggest driving heaps like this to the dump, on the trailer, put on a respirator and some long pants, shirt, and gut it straight into the dump. It's fun and easy and much easier to pressure wash when totally empty. |

You're kidding right? Two and three are classic.
Bus is still around, out back of a buddies shop. Not parting out really. I need some new pics. Hmm... _________________ MAKE FORUMS GREAT AGAIN

For anyone still following the fate of the Ratbus, its in the hands of my buddy, who is trying to decide what to do with it. Bet you thought it was looong gone, didn't you? I'm trying to talk him into working on it. I have a bunch of the parts it needs, so the saga continues. _________________ MAKE FORUMS GREAT AGAIN

Wow, I'm glad my weekend trip to pick up my 71 was totally uneventful and no smells, rat poop or wheels falling out the back on the highway, I think I would of left her on the side of the highway at some point if it went like your trip... _________________ 1973 Kombi/Westfalia conversion,SO72/6 interior, Continental upper bunk, 1600DP engine, Dual Carbs, Tri-Mil dual tip bug exhaust, UT Tourist Delivery Program

Be happy that I didn't puke in it. It would of taken you a few more days to clean it up.
WOW...what a clean up job you did, better you than me. I have seen cars come in the shop that the back seat was nothing but an over flowing 55 gallon garbage can. Good thing it was a two door.
Most of it was from the same fast food place....The Home of the Big Mac Place. _________________ As they say, "You never know until you ask the question."

I remember when I worked at Discount Tire a few years back I went to pull in a customers late 80's model Chevy full size van. everything but the drivers seat was literally covered in what had to be thousands and thousands of old news papers. The smell was horrendous. When we went to use the lift on it, the rotted floor gave way and the frame and floor came seperated from the body and literally tons and tons of cockroaches ran out, along with a few field mice and a single cat came from some where within the vans bowels too.
We ended up paying the customer a good bit more than the van was worth out of court...
So, the point of my flashback is that things could be worse... |

Its probably the most fun I have ever had "rescuing" a bus. Sadly the guy that ended up with it I lost touch with. I'd love to have it again.

That was a fun read. You know, I've always thought that there would be NO WAY to lose the "Old VW Bus Smell" one gets when you get inside these old beasts. My guess is that the OG smell in this particular bus is long gone. I'm also guessing that in it's place is another kind of smell that never goes away... _________________ 1978 Sage Green Westfalia (Happy Trails, SOLD)

Get me there. That would be a beautiful testament to toughness to see that thing mechanically spiffy.
I twisted Vdubtech's arm a little to just keep driving it! (his classic RustyBus) and it both exceeded his expectations and showed us all that you can drive a bus with a clear view from side to side over the frame.
