A few interesting scanned pics of a Wolfsburg-registered buggy, as featured in the German 'Hobby' magazine, August 1968, that I found at a swop meet yesterday. In the article, it is compared to kit cars based on Fiat and Renault cars. Seems like the TÜV Gestapo already had an influence on the rear.. Wink

It's a Desereter, they were made under license in Germany with full agreement from Autodynamics in Dearborn USA. The rear end was designed to meet traffic laws on the east coast of the US but they suited European laws well.

Surely you don't mean that people fitted tires other than Gates Commandos (and farm trailer tires) in the 60s do you??? Laughing

Wich German company did make these?

In the Netherlands Henk Schollen bought a Deserter kit in 1968 and copied it. His buggy was called the 'Schollens Woestijnrat'

Autohaus Khun or maybe Kuhn... (sp?) if I remember.
