65 sub hatch. Yeah, it leaks, what's it to ya?
Actually it's dead now, T-boned by a caddy, tipped over and bent the frame. I'm sure somone could have fixed it but at 17 I didn't know and sold it to a local shop for parts.

Technically, yes. I however disagree to this day. I was turning left across a "double yellow line"(very poorly marked) when an elderly couple(speeding, I had witnesses) side swiped me and tipped me over. I had long hair at the time and was not given the time of day by the police officers. Rolling Eyes

No,I don't have a rat rod, but I am not averse to such an idea. It actually sounds pretty good.

Just picked it up this past weekend. Very Happy
Complete minus middle seat. Little surface rust, no major rust (a couple small holes in the cargo floor near the door). OG engine and it started up. Ready for restoration.

Picked it up in Sacramento, and drove it home (on a trailer) to Washington State.

Here's my 64 Kombi that came from Italy. Story behind the grey roof is...

During a hurricane the former owner parked his Kombi next to the house to keep it safe. Well his plan back fired the chimeny(sp) from the very house he thought would keep it safe crushed the roof. I learned a lot on that bus!

Here's mine: A 1966 13-Window I bought for $50 from my neighbor at the age of 10. He thought the trans was shot, but there was just a bolt missing from the shift linkage!

Photo taken in 1983 about a year after I bought her. 1963 camper of unknown type. Someone told me it was a "California Camper". No idea as I have never seen one like it before except for my second bus. Anyway in 1986 she was stolen. Found almost completely stripped in a garage rented by Rolland Knobs. Yes, his real name. He had not paid rent on the garage for 3 months. The landlord cut the lock and found my bus inside. I got Rolland Knobs home address from the garage landlord. I went there only to find out he had just moved. His landlady said his car was out back. She said he couldn't get it running. Found Rolland's bus behind his apt. His bus had my motor (seized) and my trans in it, but none of my other parts. Police towed it and I got my motor and trans back. Tow yard said they were going to crush his bus if he didn't show up to claim it, pay towing and storage fees. Police refused to try and prosecute because I had no proof he knew that my parts in his bus were stolen even though his name was on the garage rental agreement where my stripped bus was found. Any way I had already bought my second bus when I got this one back so it sat on the side of the yard for two years before I cut it into little pieces to fit on my trailer and I hauled it to the scrap yard.

My first bus in '90. I slammed it the old way, put the roof on and drove it for 4 years. At the time I couldn't sell it for $1500, so I cut it up!
