Hi there
Can anyone tell me where the wiper motor earth wire should be grounded on the body of a June 1950 Beetle.
I have seen the wire grounded to the bracket where the wiper motor is mounted but that is only one photo in the gallery....
The car is freshly painted so i dont want to remove the paint only to find out later is should be grounded in a different position..
Any help / comments greatfully received.... _________________ The Wonky Donkey Emporium

Here is a picture I found of supposedly original wires split convertible:
It seems to show a ground wire on the wiper motor, with probably an M6 lug to the support bracket.
The first wiring harness I ever made (2003) I put in my '50 sunroof. I don't remember making a separate ground wire for the wiper motor and I no longer own the car so I can't go look at is. It is possible that it could ground itself via the motor housing/wiper mech frame/supporting bracket. In all the years since, and all the harnesses I have sold, I have never been asked about the wiper ground, until now by Ricky (who PM'ed me about it). That doesn't mean that they never existed or are needed.
I will keep looking through my pictures and see if I can get further verification of this. It looks like a simple black ground wire with an M6 ring lug, that I could add to my "Loose Wire" kit. So any other inputs on this are welcome.....! _________________ John Henry

Thanks very much...
Thats where I thought it, the only other photo in the gallery from a '49 shows the same place.
All I will say John is that I think it has a seperate earth wire not just grounded throu the wiper body because the og motor I have here has the two terminals and the old wires ( all be it cut off and short ) came out of both terminals... _________________ The Wonky Donkey Emporium
