|
|
Hi,
I have a vanagon full camper 1986 (brown interior).
The front trim of the kitchen cabinet began to have rust on the top.

Is somebodies have a proposal to how to proceed to repaint or renew this front trim?
It look like to be in a kind of rubber or paint-rubber.
This VW part, the trim (255 070 128 A), is still available in Europ for 130 euros, but if a good solution right here can be possible, i'll do it and save those euros.
Thanks in advance, _________________ Martin from Montréal

I've painted the brown metal faceplate and grills before-the spray bomb was a commercial paint supplied to my employer called "Maple" if that helps at all. |

I followed up on the earlier thread regarding painting the kitchen trim piece and new screen printed wording. The shop in San Leandro that did the screen printing wants $150 for the 2 pieces.
I have emailed them asking for price breaks in case anyone else wants some. I'll follow up today.

They're already available - can't imagine the price of a trans-atlantic stamp will ramp them to that level!

A few months back I got a quote from the shop that did the work shown in this thread. They kept the stencils and are willing to do another batch if we can get an order together. As for pricing, it's all about quantity--if we can get at least 15 faceplates, the price they quoted was only $35 each!
Note that they don't do the powdercoating, so the easiest thing would be to get your stove face powdercoated locally, then ship it to their shop.
I'm happy to coordinate, but ideally it would be better if we had some in the Bay Area that could help...

I met Adam from the silk screening place when we did the first run and can help coordinate since I live nearby, he didn't charge us much the first time around, the more the cheaper, PM if needed _________________ 1991 Westy auto w/ Peloquin TBD

Brickwerks does not ship to North America. Thank a lawyer.
You need a proxy in the UK or elsewhere in Europe that can re-send the item to you. _________________ '86 Syncro CHC Top AAZ Turbodiesel

Looks like we have options. Didn't realise GW had a set. The screen shop madspaniard used is getting me a quote for 10, but it seems moot is we can already source some from GW for a modest price.

re: the gowesty kit..
you can see in the photo that it is a sticker - a clear one with clear edging. it does NOT appear to be a press-on-decal that leaves only the lettering.
i guess what i'm saying - i can easily buy clear blank decals and laser print any image on it - gowesty just did the prep work. good for them, and that might be fine for most...
BUT - I would prefer the silkscreened approach to keep it looking as original and professional as possible. That being said - if the powder coating isn't happening at the same time i'm not sure herding 15 people to hurry up and get their powdercoating done and then ship them all up somewhere for a single run would really work timing-wise.
What's the cost for a smaller run? say 1-3?
PM me the contact details if that's easier!

Product liability over a sticker...? <rolls eyes>
If I were at home, I'd offer in a flash, but since we're in North Africa at the mo, it's not an option. _________________ Adrian

The Go-Westy is a transfer type decal, no clear plastic after you apply it. I bought both their stickers recently. Excellent decal for the money. It won't stand up to abuse like silk screening but for the price, just stick another decal on if one gets damaged. _________________ Joe
